Privacy Policy


The Agreement

By using HOSAFA (the "Service"), a service of House of Africa Ltd ("we", “us” or "our"), you are agreeing to be bound by the following Privacy Policy (the "Policy"). This Policy describes our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of your information. The Policy also describes your rights and responsibilities towards your information.

The Policy, together with the Terms of Use and the IP and Copyright Policy, governs the Service and any data, text, information, screen names, graphics, photos, profiles, audio and video clips, links and any other materials uploaded, downloaded or appearing on the Service (collectively referred to as "Content").

Information We Collect

1. Information Collected When Registering and Updating Your Account
When you create or update your Service account, you provide some personal information, such as your name, where you live, year of birth, password, and email address. Some of this information, for example, your preferred name and where you live, is listed publicly on our Service. People who search the Service may be able to see your public profile.

2. Additional Information You Provide
You may provide us with additional information to make public, such as a picture and contact information. We may use your contact information to send you information about our Service and our partners. You may control these messages by following the instructions contained within the messages or instructions on our web site. If you email us, we may keep your message, email address and contact information to respond to your request. Providing the additional information described in this section is entirely optional.

3. Events, Voices, Following and other Public Information
Our Service is primarily designed to help you share information with other people. Most of the information you provide to us is information you are asking us to make public. This includes your Events, Voices, the metadata provided with your activities, such as what you share and what you follow. Our default is almost always to make the information you provide public except when you opt not to make the information public. Your public information is broadcast immediately and widely. For example, your public events, voices and public profile can be discovered by many search engines and may be delivered via software applications to a wide range of users and services.

4. Log Data
Our servers automatically record information ("Log Data") created by your use of the Service. Some of the Log Data is automatically reported by your browser each time you access a web page. Log Data may include information such as your web request, IP address, browser type, entry and exit pages, domain names, landing pages, pages viewed, and other information.

5. Cookies
A cookie is a small text file containing a string of alphanumeric characters. We use web standard cookies to collect data and to improve our Service. A cookie may also convey anonymous information about how you browse the Service to us. A cookie does not collect personal information about you. The Service uses both session cookies and persistent cookies. A persistent cookie remains on your computer after you close your browser. 6. External Services
We use Google Analytics to monitor how people use our Service. Google Analytics collects the information sent by your browser, including cookies and your IP address. Google receives this information and may use it according to their own Privacy Policy.

How We Use Your Information

We do not disclose your private information except under the following circumstances:

How We Protect Your Information

We use commercially reasonable physical, managerial, and technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of your personal information. We cannot, however, ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission of information, we make commercially reasonable efforts to ensure the security of our systems. However, please note that this is not a guarantee that such information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.

To protect your privacy and security, we take reasonable steps (such as requesting a unique password) to verify your identity before granting you access to your account. You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your unique password and account information, and for controlling access to your email communications from us at all times.

Compromise of Personal Information

In the event that personal information is compromised as a result of a breach of security, we will promptly notify those persons whose personal information has been compromised, in accordance with the notification procedures set forth in this Policy, or as otherwise required by applicable law.

Managing Your Own Information

You may decline to submit personally identifiable information through the Service, in which case we may not be able to provide certain services to you. You may update or correct your personal information at any time by signing into your account.

We are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our website, nor the information or content contained therein. Please remember that when you use a link to go from our website to another website, our Privacy Policy is no longer in effect. Your browsing and interaction on any other website, including those that have a link on our website, is subject to that website's own rules and policies. Please read over those rules and policies before proceeding.

Children's Policy

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we take steps to remove the information.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

If we change our privacy policies and procedures, we will post those changes on our website to keep you aware of what information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances we may disclose it. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
